Marron Singers

The Marron Singers, an initiative of former Principal Chris McCabe, is a community choir originally directed by Jane Wood. The choir is now under the direction of Barbara McNeair, the Director of Music at Sacre Coeur from 2000-2011.

Most members were (and still are) connected to Xavier College in some other way; as parents, staff, friends, friends of friends. The choir's name honours Edward Moore Marron (XC 1926-1936) who played the lead role in five Gilbert and Sullivan operas and was Captain of Boats and Captain of the School in 1926.

Performances include

  • ANZAC Day Mass
  • Remembrance Day Mass
  • Charity Christmas Concert

An invitation to join us:

The Marron Singers choir encourages new members, regardless of whether they have any connection with Xavier College; have ever sung before or are able to commit to a weekly attendance. The only criterion is that members want to enjoy singing with others. If you wish to know more about the Marron Singers, please join us in the Xavier Memorial Chapel - Senior Campus at 7:45pm on Tuesday nights during term time.

We welcome all who wish to participate.
