Xavier College is excited to welcome our new Head of Football (AFL) Mr Matthew Egan. Matt joins us from Melbourne Football Club where he has been the Head of Development for the past three years. Although being retained by Melbourne Football Club through the recent period of restructure across the AFL industry, we are delighted that Matt has chosen to join the Xavier community and our football program.
Matt began his coaching career as a development coach at Geelong Football Club post his retirement from AFL football. He was a successful AFL player in his own right having played 59 games for Geelong from 2005-07. He was named in the All-Australian team at centre-half back in 2007, before a fractured navicular bone prematurely ended his career.
