For me, the time I spent overseas highlighted the importance of community and care for those around us. The people I got to know on my travels sacrificed their time and money on a daily basis to improve the lives of the disadvantaged, without giving it a second thought. Experiencing such generous acts day after day made me realise how much we take for granted; such as the simple act of drinking water from the tap without the fear of getting sick.
From this experience, I’ve learnt how great of an impact volunteering and doing service can have on your life and that of others, and it has certainly inspired me to continue doing so in the future. The experience was truly incredible, and I feel extremely privileged and fortunate to have taken part in this opportunity.
