May 20 marks 500 years since St Ignatius Loyola was struck in the leg by a cannonball during the siege of Pamplona. This injury would trigger a change in Ignatius' story from aristocrat and soldier to the pilgrim and founder of a religious order. It marks the beginning of the Ignatian Year, culminating in the 400th anniversary of the canonisation of St Ignatius and St Francis Xavier in 1622. Our College theme this year uses the image of Ignatius the pilgrim.
St Ignatius encouraged prayer-filled mindfulness by proposing the Daily Examen, a way to reflect on the events of the day. Our Year 12 leaders have produced a student-led Examen that members of our community may like to use to assist with their own reflection and mindfulness.
